Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushenko warned on Monday that Russia’s armed forces may launch a large-scale attack on New Year’s Eve using missiles in particular, including cruise missiles.
“The Russians have not given up their attacks on our energy grid,” Mr Halushenko told Ukrainian television. “And since they are targeting specific dates, New Year’s may be one of those dates that they will try to cause damage to our energy grid,” he insisted.
Energy infrastructure is being repaired as quickly as possible so that Ukrainians can celebrate the New Year without problems, but this will only be possible if there are no new Russian strikes, he stressed.
