Brazil recorded 79 deaths and 29,697 cases of Covid this Monday (26). With that, the country reached 36,202,186 cases and 693,017 lives lost by the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic.

Moving averages of deaths and cases are stable compared to last Sunday (25), but continue with a moderate rise compared to data from two weeks ago. The average number of deaths is now 146 per day, an increase of 44%. The average number of cases is 36,924, an increase of 11%.

The data for the country, collected until 8 pm, are the result of a collaboration between Sheet, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disseminate numbers related to the coronavirus pandemic. The information is collected daily by the consortium of press vehicles with the state Health Secretariats.

In all, 182,439,217 people received at least the first dose of a Covid vaccine in Brazil. Added to the single doses of Janssen’s vaccine, there are 172,479,651 people with both doses or one dose of Janssen’s vaccine.

Thus, the country already has 84.92% of the population with the 1st dose and 80.29% of Brazilians with two doses or one dose of Janssen’s vaccine.

So far, 107,270,651 people have taken the third dose, and 39,062,824, the fourth.

With regard to children, 14,320,310 first doses (54.19%) were applied in the age group from 3 to 11 years and 9,921,912 second doses (37.55%).

The initiative by the consortium of press vehicles occurred in response to the actions of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed bulletins about the disease and removed information from the air, with the interruption of the disclosure of total cases and deaths.
