The reason for Musa Hasahya, who is 67 years old and lives in Lusaka, Uganda, where polygamy is legal.

According to his statement to British media, Musa was hit by the financial crisis, which now limits him to further grow his family.

For this reason suggested that his 12 wives start taking contraceptive measures to prevent another pregnancyand for Musa to be able to afford to provide food for the already 682 family members.

He characteristically stated: “My income is getting smaller and smaller due to the financial crisis, while at the same time my family is constantly growing. I married one woman after another. How can a man be satisfied with only one woman?’

Also noteworthy is the fact that all his wives live in the same house so that he can ‘control’ them and stop them from having contact with other men.”

Musa’s youngest wife, mother of 11 of his children, said: “I will not have any more children. I have noticed the poor financial situation of the family, that is why I am now taking the contraceptive pill.”

About 1/3 of Musa’s children live with him on the farm. The ages of his children range from 6 to 51 yearswhile his eldest son is 21 years older than his youngest wife.
