Officially, the FSB (formerly KGB) announced that 52-year-old Chernovolchev had “retired” as he had reached the appropriate age
The intelligence officer “in charge” of poisoning his opponents, Eduard Chernovolchev, was fired by Russian President Vladimir Putin after reports reached his ears that Chernovolchev had told friends that he “derailed the war in Ukraine.”
“He was very sad about the start of the military operation in Ukraine and, in the company of his friends, said more than once that everything has gone too far,” said a source.
The Kremlin saw these comments as “distrust of the regime” and removed him from his post. Officially, the FSB (formerly KGB) announced that the 52-year-old Chernovolchev “retired” as he had reached the appropriate age, but this view is disputed as the current head of the Russian security services, a close friend of Putin, Alexander Bortnikov, is 71 years old.

According to an Insider report republished by the Daily Mail, 52-year-old Chernovolchev was the head of NII-2 FSB, a research institute of Russia’s FSB (formerly KGB) security services that develops deadly poisons used against Kremlin enemies.
In fact, Chernovolchev’s staff directly participated in the poisoning of the imprisoned Russian opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, with the Novichok nerve agent.
