The video went viral within 24 hours and the owner of the mini market fired the 44-year-old
A convenience store employee in Louisiana has been fired after video surfaced showing her dousing a bucket of ice water on a homeless woman sitting outside the store in sub-zero temperatures.
Casey Young, 44, is shown in the video showering the homeless woman and yelling at her: “Go away! I’m not saying that again. Go away!”, while she looks at her in bewilderment without answering her.
Within 24 hours, the video went viral and the owner of the mini market fired the 44-year-old.
Casey took the video to her social media to defend herself, claiming it was a group of homeless people who had camped out in the parking lot of the store she worked in without leaving, so she had to call the police to evict them.
A colleague of Young’s said the 44-year-old is known for caring for the homeless in the area and that she lost her temper the morning the video was taken.
The homeless woman seen in the video has since been connected to the appropriate services to get help. The Baton Rouge Police Department could not confirm whether the employee will face charges.
