Francesco Giorgi testified how Antonio Panzeri, who is seen as the “mastermind” of Qatargate, essentially “set up” the hearings of Qatari officials in the EU in order to win the World Cup
In how Antonio Panzeri, who is considered to be the “brain” of Qatargate, essentially “set up” the hearings of Qatari officials in the EU, in order to win the World Cup, the Italian La Repubblica presents today, based on one of his statements Francesco Giorgi, Eva Kaili’s partner and Pantzeri’s right-hand man.
According to the newspaper, the Italian former MEP had written Qatar’s labor minister’s speech to the December 14 hearing by members of the European Parliament’s Human Rights Committee, with the aim of convincing them that the state of workers’ rights in Doha had changed.
Pancheri had also worked out some of the questions that some of the committee members would ask, in order to “help” Ali Bin Samikh Al Marri, to have the positive result of taking over the event.

Giorgi himself had translated Al Marri’s speech.
In fact, as the people of Qatar were worried about any problems that would arise from the committee’s questions, Pancheri, according to Giorgi’s testimony, had even drafted MEPs’ questions.
The case file mentions the names of Alessandra Moretti, Andrea Cozzolino and Mark Tarabella.
