A 28-year-old man was taken into custody today in Pennsylvaniaaccused of the murders of four of his students University of Idaho in November, NBC News reported, citing security sources.
The suspect, identified as Brian Kochberger, was arrested in his area Scranton.
State and local law enforcement agencies along with university officials are expected to hold a press conference later on the case.
Police in Moscow, Idaho found the bodies of three women and a man inside a home on November 13. The perpetrator had hit his victims with a knife or some other “sharp” object. The victims were Ethan Chapin, 20, of Conway, Washington, Madison Mogen, 21, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Jeanne Kernodle, 20, of Avondale, Arizona, and Kylie Goncalves, 21 years old, from Rathdrum, Idaho.
The killings shocked the campus. Moscow police said they had received more than 13,000 phone calls and emails from people wanting to provide information or help with investigations. Police took statements from at least 300 people.
Police were looking for a white 2011-13 Hyundai Elantra believed to be near the victims’ home in the early hours of November 13.
