The two-day celebratory party was attended by people from many parts of Europe – Police needed reinforcements from other areas as well as the fire brigade

The Belgian authorities were alerted when they were informed of the organization of a rave party with thousands of participants in Namur, Wallonia.

Around 4,000 people took part in the party which took place on Saturday, New Year’s Eve and Sunday, in the Somphret district of Namur, according to the town’s mayor, Etienne Bertrand, reports the rtbf network.

The participants, who arrived both from Belgium and other parts of Europe, had gathered in a warehouse in the economic activity park of the Economic Office of Namur.

As reported by the Belgian media, they reacted to the arrival of the police, who needed reinforcements from other areas as well as the fire brigade.

Particular concern was caused by the use of fireworks for the coming of the new year, due to the fact that there is a business with hazardous materials nearby and there was a risk of causing an accident.

However, no incident occurred.

The rave party finally came to an end early Sunday night when the attendees left. An investigation is underway to identify the organizers.
