Pharmacies have confirmed they have run out of several drugs amid ‘extreme demand’

There are severe shortages of cold and seasonal flu medicines due to the outbreak of viruses in Britain as well, with desperate citizens going from pharmacy to pharmacy to get the medicine they want.

Pharmacies have confirmed that they have run out of several drugs amid “extreme demand” and concerns that the UK could soon be hit with a double “whammy” from a combination of flu and coronavirus, as the Daily Mail points out.

Pharmacists in Northern Ireland are also reporting that they are facing drug shortages following a huge increase in demand for cold and flu-related treatments.

The news of drug shortages comes as a new “highly infectious” strain of the coronavirus has emerged and has already been identified in 25 patients in the UK.

The strain – named XBB.1.5 – has sparked alarm in the US for its rapid spread with hospitalizations rising
