Lavros against the West appeared on Wednesday the president of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan accusing it of “double standards” when it comes to media freedom.

Speaking at the 7th Anatolian Media Awards in Ankara, Erdogan said: “Those who accuse Turkey of censorship remain silent about them (Twitter) who do real censorship.”

“We all know that those who criticize democracy, human rights and freedom of the press in Turkey, how fascist are theywhen it comes to themselves and their interests” he claimed, according to the Anatoli agency.

Erdogan also criticized those who “embraced members of Fethullah Gülen’s terrorist organization (FETO) who published state secrets, pretending to be journalists.”

Also referring to the protests in Gezi Park in 2013, Erdogan put against France saying that those who tried to present “the looters in Turkey as heroes, labeled the protesters as terrorists when similar events happened in Paris.”

After the failed coup of July 15, 2016 in Turkey, in which more than 250 people were killed, “those who criticize us mercilessly have created noise in the face of rumors of a coup in their country,” he said, a report interpreted as a spike for the USA after storming the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
