California is a mess. Mass-flooding happening all because Gavin Newsom can’t get his shit together. He’s a horrible Governor and the reason for all of this. Here’s a shot of what Santa Cruz, California looks like. pic.twitter.com/lzIKlpvSwX

“The storms killed 14 Californians. The victims are more than have been killed in wildfires in the past two years, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office said.
“We still have several days of bad weather ahead of us,” the governor said, urging residents to be especially careful.

In Paso Robles, a community between Los Angeles and San Francisco, a 5-year-old boy was swept away from the waters on Monday and his fate is unknown, local media reported citing the sheriff’s office. The rushing torrent immobilized the car in which the child was with his mother, who was saved thanks to the help of a neighbor. Authorities suspended their search for the child due to bad weather, Fox 11 reported.
The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds today.
“It ‘s crazy”
Authorities ordered the evacuation of Montecito, a beach community north of Los Angeles where many celebrities live. Actress Jennifer Aniston and presenter Oprah Winfrey have multi-million dollar mansions there. In this area, up to 20 cm of rain was expected on the surrounding hills, which are already unable to absorb the volume of water, after the storms of the last few days. For this reason and because the trees in the mountains surrounding the city were burned five years ago, the risk of landslides is increased. Five years ago, a mudslide caused by heavy flooding killed 23 people in the city.

In Montecito, home to actress Gwyneth Paltrow and singer Katy Perry, among others, residents are evacuating their homes, but it is still difficult to ascertain how many have obeyed the order. Representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not respond to a request for comment.
Police have set up barricades to prevent people from entering the city, where many roads are flooded. The fire department recalled that in the last month Montecito has received more rain than the annual average.
On Monday, host Ellen DeGeneres, who also lives in the city, tweeted a video showing a mudslide. “It ‘s crazy. This stream next to our house almost never has water,” he commented.
