The Brazilian government took office just ten days ago. The fact that she is currently facing a major criminal investigation while her people are divided

At least 1,500 Bolsonaros are being questioned by Brazilian authorities after storming government buildings on Sunday. THE Alexander de Moraes who is leading the investigations pledged, he said, to fight terrorism.
The approximately 1,500 Brazilian government prisoners were all crammed together in the same area and, according to the news agency, Reuters, police authorities gave them little food. Going through interrogation and after scrutinizing their mobile phones, at least 440 of them have been arrested – so far.
Some were caught on the spot while others in a camp where they camped before storming Congress, the Presidential Palace and the Supreme Court in Brasilia on Sunday, January 8, a day when the country seemed to live its own Capitol.
His new government Luis Ignacio Lula Da Silva underlines that imprisoning the intruders is only the beginning.
The Brazilian government took office just ten days ago. The fact that she is currently being asked to face a major criminal investigation while her people are divided and the problems in the country are many is not an easy task.
The new president, Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva, in an attempt to take matters into his own hands but also to send a message of unity met with the heads of the Senate, the House and the Supreme Court at the Presidential Palace as well as the heads of of the country’s federations. In addition, he also met with the Minister of Defense and the heads of the Armed Forces. His statements are harsh. He talks about coup plotters, promises their punishment and at the same time repeats what democracy is.
“What they want is a coup, but there will be no coup! Because they should learn that democracy is the most complicated thing for us since it requires us to tolerate others and coexist with people we don’t like”, he emphasized during his statements yesterday.
Lula da Silva seems well aware that his country is at a crossroads. Even the election results of last October proved it. The 77-year-old leftist beat his ten-year-younger rival, Jair Bolsonaro, by just two percentage points. This marginal majority that gave him victory is fragile and gives him absolutely no room for error.
The challenges he faced before are now magnified as the far right may have lost for the second time in ten weeks but made sure to show its teeth once again. After all, he managed the worst attack against the Republic in the country 38 years after the fall of the military dictatorship.
However, Brazil may, over the past four years, have seen its democratic institutions weaken…but three days before it saw them still endure.
Brazilians poured into the streets of the country’s major cities on Monday. The most massive demonstrations against Bolsonaro were recorded in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In the slogans, citizens of all ages called for Bolsonaro and his followers to be punished by shouting, singing or even dancing. For them the Bolsonarians are the minority and they are the majority. As they say, democracy will win in the end. They were dressed mainly in red for the sake of the leftist Lula but also because the colors of the country’s national football team were “stolen” by the Bolsonaros. They did the same with their flag…
Social peace and unity are absent from Brazil. The far-right Bolsonaro supporters who stormed the seats of the three powers last Sunday and were arrested are not the only ones hoping for Lula’s ouster. There are others who will continue to invest in division.
Lula’s statements the day after the invasion are harsh, but so is the attitude of the Bolsonaros who may have lost again but managed to send a resounding warning message about the problems they can achieve in the coming months in the country.
The question remains what time will bring. But everyone knows that everything will depend on the former miner Lula and the attitude he will maintain in ruling these two Brazils in the end. He won one, the other remains to be conquered.
