Ambulance service staff in England and Wales have gone on a new 24-hour strike today.
Their demand is mainly for higher increases amid high inflation, hovering around 11%.
The strike involves drivers, paramedics and technicians who make up the vehicle crews, as well as workers at the 999 call center for immediate action services, who had not taken part in the corresponding strike in December.
A total of 20 to 25 thousand workers are on strike. However, everyone will not be away from their duties for more than 12 hours, from morning to midnight. Operators will strike for six hours each.
The strikers are affiliated to the Unison and GMB unions.
Citizens have been warned to expect delays in the response to their calls and the arrival of ambulances during the day, with serious cases needing to be taken by private vehicle to hospital in some cases.
