Yemen: New airstrikes in Sanaa

by

Aircraft of the military alliance under the command of Saudi Arabia, which has been involved in the war in Yemen since 2015, bombed a camp of Shiite Houthi rebels, which are considered to be adjacent to Iran, in the Yemeni capital Sanaa.

“The operation in Sanaa is an immediate reaction after the crash of a remote-controlled drone that had taken off for Jizan,” the source said. Jizan, a city in western Saudi Arabia bordered by the Red Sea, has been repeatedly targeted by Houthis.

According to state television of the Sunni kingdom, seven drones and weapons depots were destroyed in the Shiite rebel camp. It was not immediately clear whether or not there were any casualties.

Since late November, the Saudi-led military alliance has stepped up its airstrikes in the Yemeni capital, where it says it is hitting “legitimate” military targets.
