Death toll rises – Eight more are still missing
At least five people died in an explosion in chemical factory in northeast China yesterday Sunday afternoon while another 8 are still missing, as reported by state television CCTV today.
The explosion occurred yesterday evening at a factory in Panshan County, Liaoning Province, China, as reported by TV, according to which the fire that broke out after the explosion has been brought under control.
Video and photos released by CCTV showed a cloud of black smoke and flames rising from the factory and a team of firefighters working outside the building. According to the television network, more than 330 firefighters were mobilized to extinguish the fire. A previous report spoke of two dead, 34 injured and 12 missing.
