Involvement in the order of US military helicopters may even cost the position of the undersecretary of defense
Problems with Berlin’s order for 60 Chinook military helicopters add to the already long list of failures facing new Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who is sworn in on Thursday.
According to a revelation by Business Insider magazine, the 60 CH-47F Block II Standard Range (Chinook) helicopters that the German government has ordered until 2030 for six billion euros are now estimated to cost almost twice as much, as the optional equipment it requests the Bundeswehr is particularly expensive, mainly because some systems are not yet fully developed.
As the magazine points out, the involvement in the order of US military helicopters cannot be ruled out even costing the position of the undersecretary of defense in charge of equipment, Benedict Zimmer.
