Two former London police officers, already in turmoil after it was revealed that one of its members was a serial rapist, are being prosecuted in a child pornography case, Scotland Yard announced today.

On Tuesday, police fired David Carrick, who confessed to 24 rapes and multiple sexual assaults on at least 12 women.
Police today said a 49-year-old chief inspector, Richard Watkinson, was found dead on January 12 and was due to be charged with a raft of offences, including “voyeurism”, taking “indecent” photographs of a child and “conspiracy” to ” sharing or displaying indecent photographs of children’.
His death is being treated as unexplained but “not suspicious”.
Two former police officers, aged around 60 today, who left the Force fifteen years ago, are accused of the same case. Jack Addis and Jeremy Laxton are being prosecuted for “conspiracy to distribute or display indecent photographs of children”. Another charge is pending against Laxton, for downloading and possessing images of child pornography.
The offenses were committed between 2018-21.
The two men will appear in court on February 9.
Interior Minister Suella Braverman urged the police to “bring order” within themselves and to prosecute “corrupt officers”.
