The Turkish Foreign Minister also argued that this protest cannot invoke freedom of expression
The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said today that he hoped the Swedish authorities would not allow a protest rally involving the burning of the Koran to take place.
“This permission was given to this person, despite our warnings. This heinous act will take place around 16:00 Turkish time (15:00 Greek time), I hope that the Swedish authorities will have taken the necessary measures by then and will not allow it,” Cavusoglu told reporters.
The Turkish foreign minister also argued that this protest cannot invoke freedom of expression.
Earlier today, the Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar had said that next week’s planned visit by his Swedish counterpart to Ankara was canceled after Swedish authorities gave permission for protest rallies in Stockholm.
