Police responded early this morning (GMT) to a shooting incident in Monterey Park, California, the LA Times reported on its website.
The incident occurred after 22:00 (local time, 08:00 this morning Greek time) in an area where Chinese New Year festivities were taking place in Monterey Park, Los Angeles County.

At the moment, not much information is known about the incident, nor the number of victims.

A local resident said he believed the shooting started after the festival ended.
Videos posted on social media show police and firefighters rushing to the area and providing first aid to the victims.

Injured people have been taken to various hospitals in the area, while it is not clear if the perpetrator has been arrested.
Monterey Park is located approximately 7 miles from downtown Los Angeles.
