Russia’s response to Estonia’s move to expel Russian diplomats and employees of the Russian embassy in Tallinn

THE Russia stated today that it is downgrading diplomatic relations with Estoniaa NATO member country, accusing Tallinn of “absolute Russophobia“.

Russia’s foreign ministry said it had told the Estonian ambassador to leave next month, and that the two countries would be represented in each other’s capital by a chargé d’affaires instead of an ambassador.

He said it was a response to Estonia’s move to expel Russian diplomats and employees of the Russian embassy in Tallinn.

“In recent years, the Estonian leadership has deliberately destroyed the entire range of relations with Russia. The absolute Russophobia, the cultivation of hostility towards our country has been reduced by Tallinn to state policy,” he said.

Estonia and its Baltic neighbors Latvia and Lithuania are among NATO members arguing strongly for Germany to hand over Leopard tanks to bolster Ukraine in its war against invading Russia.

Estonia, like other allies of Ukraine, last week sent more weapons on her own.

Commenting on the deterioration of relations, the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova he said: “The Estonian regime got what it deserved.”
