Potentially dozens of unaccompanied children who arrived in the UK and applied for asylum are believed to have been kidnapped, the Observer newspaper has revealed.

In fact, the reported abductions are said to have taken place even on the street outside a hotel in Brighton that is used by the responsible Ministry of the Interior to house the children.

The complaint was made to the newspaper by an employee of a contracted company that assists the ministry in immigration services.

The abductions have been attributed to gangs who traffic minors, despite the fact that the Observer says the Home Office has been repeatedly warned by police about these minors being targeted by criminal organisations.

In the last 18 months, the hotel in question has accommodated approximately 600 unaccompanied children. 136 of them have been reported as missing, with 79 still missing.

Some of these children have run away from the hotel or been reunited with relatives and friends without informing the authorities. However, a percentage is believed to have fallen into the hands of traffickers.

The same Observer source reported that similar incidents have occurred at a hotel in Kent, with 10% of the children hosted each week disappearing.

According to the newspaper, children believed to have been kidnapped may have been taken to other parts of the country, such as Manchester and Scotland, while a case of possible trafficking is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police in London.

The Ministry of the Interior, however, denies the complaint, saying that the minors are free to leave the accommodation provided to them if they wish.

However, Labour’s shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper called the revelation “truly appalling and scandalous” which should be investigated. He also accused Minister Suella Braverman of “complete dereliction of duty”.
