The president of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT), arrived at Casa Rosada, headquarters of the Presidency of Argentina, at 11 am this Monday (23) for a meeting with his counterpart, Alberto Fernández. Both were accompanied by their first ladies.

Earlier, Lula participated in a flower delivery ceremony in honor of General José de San Martín, a local independence hero.

Lula and Janja arrived in Buenos Aires on Sunday night (22) and went directly to the hotel. In addition to the visit to the Argentine president, Lula plans a bilateral visit this Monday with the dictator of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro – who had not yet arrived in the country until the end of the morning.

As of Wednesday (25), Fernández will host the seventh edition of the CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Summit, currently chaired by Argentina.

Also on Tuesday night, the Brazilian and Argentine will attend a concert together at Centro Cultural Kirchner. Relations between the two main Mercosur partners were dormant due to the isolation of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

“We are going to resume and accelerate the relationship again,” said Fernández in an interview with Sheet.
