Despite the fact that 41-year-old Kloepfer and his wife were unarmed and obeyed police orders, as he says, the SWAT team shot him.
Shocking video of the moment a disabled man is shot inside his mobile home by a North Carolina SWAT team despite appearing to obey their orders has surfaced.
Jason Harley Kloepfer, 41, was shot multiple times by Cherokee County police after authorities received a call about shots fired in the area on December 12 around 11 p.m. The authorities suspected that the 41-year-old is the perpetrator and that he is also holding a hostage, according to the Daily Mail.
In the video, Kloepfer can be seen opening the door with his wife, Alison Mahler, standing behind him. Both had their hands up.
Seconds later, however, the officers opened fire on Kloepfer, who immediately collapsed to the floor. “They shot me” the 41-year-old started shouting.
“What the hell,” Mahler screamed at officers as she helped her husband. “You shot him – what the hell did you do!” .
Kloepfer can be heard yelling “I don’t have a gun, I didn’t have a gun.”
Police continued to yell orders for both of them to get out of the trailer. Mahler obeyed while holding her hands up as her injured husband was dragged to the door.
The 41-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition, however, he managed to recover.
Police said Kloepfer was involved in a verbal altercation with police before he answered the door. The 41-year-old was charged with threats and resisting, obstruction and delay.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was not immediately available for comment.
The 41-year-old Kloepfer
Last week, Kloepfer shared his recovery journey on social media along with footage of the incident. He appeared to have gunshot wounds to his torso and arm.
“We’ve been out of state in fear of our lives since I got out of the hospital,” he said.
Details of the incident and its aftermath remain unclear as Kloepfer insisted he could not share information about the shooting. However, he insists on his innocence and called the accusations “completely false”.
