The Turkish Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that 20,470 cases of SARS-CoV-2 had been confirmed in the past 24 hours after 357,536 tests, bringing the total number of registered infections to 9,286,986.

The deaths of 145 patients due to complications of COVID-19 increased the death toll to 81,403 dead until yesterday, March 11, 2020, when the new coronavirus epidemic broke out in Turkish territory.

According to Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, now 10% of the virus-confirmed infections in the country, mainly in the urban centers with the largest population, are attributed to the Omicron variant, a fact which has not been caused so far. at least, a significant increase in hospital admissions.

As of January 14, 2021, almost 52 million people – out of a total population of 83 million – have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and nearly 57 million have received a dose, according to official figures. A total of 128.34 million doses have been given, including third-party souvenirs.
