Britain: Prosecution of a member of the military for activities linked to terrorism

The serving member of the British army is expected to appear in a London court today

A member of the British army was prosecuted for terrorism-related activities in Britain on Friday following an investigation, the country’s police said.

It is about the 21-year-old Daniel Abed Khalifwho is accused of attempting to “obtain information that could be used by someone who would commit or prepare a terrorist act” in August 2021, London’s Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

Khalif is also accused of “placing an object with the intent to cause someone to believe that said object was likely to explode,” police said in a statement, noting that this happened on January 2 this year.

The two acts for which he is being prosecuted were committed in Beaconside, Stafford, in central England.

This “serving member of the British Army” is being held and is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London today.
