by

The information has not been confirmed by Kyiv

The Russian Defense Ministry and the private military company Wagner have announced — separately — that Russian forces have fully captured the village of Vlakhodatne, in the Donetsk region, not far from Bakhmut, but it is unclear whether it was occupied by regular Russian forces or mercenaries, and the information has not been confirmed. from Kyiv, nor can it be independently verified.

The village of Vlachodatne is located north of the city of Bahmut, where fierce fighting has been raging for months.

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner company, hastened to announce, before the Ministry of Defense, that his men had taken the village.

It is not the first time that the Russian Ministry of Defense and the company, which is considered to have close ties to the Kremlin, have made competing claims about the authorship of a military success.

Over the weekend, Kyiv assured that attacks on the village had been repelled.

The Russian side is trying to encircle Bakhmut from the north and south, to force the Ukrainian army to withdraw its forces from it.

The opposing sides are said to be suffering very heavy casualties in the hostilities.

However, the main supply route, to the north-west, still remains under Ukrainian control.

Ukraine is demanding that the West send it heavy weapons to stop the advance of Russian forces and liberate occupied territories.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also announced yesterday that an armored train was deployed on the fronts, which will be used for reconnaissance, mine removal, as well as the destruction of enemy targets on the ground and in the air.

It is an “armored train armed to the teeth”, according to the ministry, which clarified that the military personnel on it will have, in addition to their individual weapons, weapons with a longer range, so that they can carry out missions “even in the most difficult conditions ».
