The imperial lemurs were spotted in an abandoned building in Lancaster
The two rare monkeys that mysteriously disappeared earlier this week from the Dallas Zoo after someone “trespassed” on their cage have been found alive.
The imperial lion monkeys were spotted in an abandoned building in Lancaster, a southern suburb of Dallas, police said, and have already returned to their “home.” At the same time, the authorities posted a photo of one on Twitter, perched on a closet.
Dallas Police, with the help of the Lancaster Police Department, located the two missing tamarin monkeys from the Dallas Zoo at an abandoned home in Lancaster.

The disappearance of the monkeys is part of a series of “suspicious” incidents at the zoo. In the last two weeks, unknown persons damaged the cages of the baboons and a clouded leopard, while a 35-year-old vulture was found dead, not of natural causes. The leopard escaped, forcing the park to close for a short time.
It is not clear if any of these incidents are connected to the “escape” of the two monkeys, who were returned to the zoo and examined by veterinarians.
On Tuesday, Dallas police tweeted a photo of a young man officers “would like to speak with” regarding the disappearance of the two primates. As of this morning, it had not been possible to contact him.
