CIA Director William Burns reportedly traveled to Moscow with a secret peace deal
The Kremlin today Friday described as a “hoax” information according to which the director of the CIA William Burns traveled to Moscow with a secret peace deal that included Ukraine ceding one-fifth of its territory to Russia.
Washington has also denied reports by the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung that Burns made a secret trip to Moscow last month to propose the plan on behalf of the White House.
Asked whether Burns had traveled to Moscow or proposed a plan that included Ukraine ceding 20 percent of its territory, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: “This report it’s all a hoax.”
The Kremlin spokesman also said the European Union’s embargo on Russian oil products exported by sea, expected to take effect the day after Sunday, would further destabilize global energy markets and said Russia was “taking steps to protect its interests against the dangers that appear”.
