US sniper kills 4 and injures 3 before being killed by police

An armed man killed four people and wounded three others, including a police officer, in Colorado, this Monday (27). He was killed by the police.

The reason for the attack, which began Monday afternoon, with the attacker opening fire in downtown Denver, where he killed two women and wounded a man, remains unclear.

He then fled in a car and killed another man near a park. Then he attacked another neighborhood, where no one was hit.

According to police, agents chased the man, and there was an exchange of fire.

He then arrived in the nearby town of Lakewood, where he killed a fourth person inside a trade.

There were more firefights between police and the assailant, who was killed entering a hotel, according to local police spokesman John Romero. A police officer was injured and is undergoing surgery.

Authorities have not publicly identified the man and said the circumstances leading to the attack are being investigated.

Anne Wilson, a woman who was inside a Lakewood store next to the attack site, told NBC that she heard seven or eight shots, and then another burst of five shots. She and other customers were taken to a back room by the attendants, where they stayed until the danger passed.

On June 19 of this year, Colorado became the first US state to repeal a law prohibiting cities from creating their own firearm regulations. To date, 44 of the 50 US states have laws of this type.
