Thousands of servers worldwide became the target of a ransomware cyberattack, announced Italy’s National Cyber ​​Security Agency (ACN), warning organizations to take measures to protect their systems.

The hacker attack was aimed at exploiting a security hole in software used on computers, ACN chief executive Roberto Baldoni told Reuters, adding that it was on a massive scale.

Earlier today, Telecom Italia customers reported internet problems but the two issues are not believed to be related.
