The Belgian MEP Marc Tarabella, involved in the Qatargate scandal, was arrested today in Brussels by the Belgian authorities.
The Belgian MEP is in temporary detention at the Brussels prosecutor’s office.
Tarbela’s lawyer, Maxim Töller, told POLITICO that his client had not yet appeared before the investigator.

According to the Italian news agency Ansa, his questioning continues and by the afternoon it is expected to be known whether he will be taken to prison or released.
Almost a week ago, MEPs voted to lift the immunity of Italian MEP Andrea Cozzolino and Belgian Marc Tarabella, following requests from Belgian authorities.
Belgian prosecutors have not given details on what charges Tarabella may face, or whether any police action is pending against Coccolino.
