The man was trying to escape to Montenegro
At Istanbul airport a contractor was arrested, while trying to flee the country.
Such as reports SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis, the police had information that the contractor would flee to Podgorica, Montenegro. As soon as the Turkish authorities saw him, they stopped him and then arrested him.
He was the builder of a 12-story building that collapsed in the earthquake in Turkey. An estimated 800 people were trapped in the rubble of the Renaissance complex, which consisted of 250 apartments, in Hatay province in southeastern Turkey.
At the same time, according to the Athens Agency, the businessman had a large amount of money on him. The luxury complex, advertised on social networking sites as “a corner of Paradise”, was completely demolished.
Since Monday, many Turkish media outlets have blamed some builders who used poor quality materials or did not follow regulations in building buildings. The private television channel NTV reported that today a first lawsuit was filed in Diyarbakir and others are expected to follow.
“Investigations into the collapsed buildings are ongoing. Those responsible will be found and brought to justice,” said Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag.
