Not one, not two, but three planes full of potatoes are expected to land in Japan, in order for the local McDonald’s stores to solve the problem of the lack of french fries.
Each aircraft will include cargo of potatoes on 747 aircraft, which are expected to help increase the US company’s local reserves, which are at marginal levels.
On December 21, McDonald’s stores announced that french fries would now only be available in small packages, in an effort to preserve any stocks.
The decision was made after the recent floods in the port of Vancouver, which destroyed huge quantities of potatoes that were to be exported to Japan.
In addition, the well-known turmoil in global supply chains has exacerbated the problem.
Several Japanese, hearing all this, rushed outside the McDonalds stores the previous days, in order to taste their favorite potatoes, forming very long queues.
According to the company’s calculations, the supply problem will be solved by the New Year, as -in addition to the three aircraft- additional deliveries are being launched in the coming days.
