Jens Stoltenberg said that “NATO will stand by Ukraine as long as it takes”
“The reality is that we are already seeing the start” of a new Russian attack on Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s meeting of defense ministers in Brussels. He also underlined that the Russian president, Vladimir Putin “is not preparing for peace” instead launching new attacks.
As Jens Stoltenberg points out, “NATO will stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes” and added that the allies are in “a logistics fight” with Russia.
“Essential capabilities such as ammunition and spare parts must reach Ukraine before Russia can take the initiative on the battlefield. Speed will save lives,” said the NATO Secretary General.
He also went on to claim that President Vladimir Putin is sending “thousands and will send thousands more troops”, while accepting the “very high casualty rate” and having “heavy losses”, but putting pressure on the Ukrainians.
“What Russia lacks in quality, they try to make up for in quantity,” he said, which he said shows how urgent it is for the West to supply Ukraine with more weapons.
“The faster Kyiv can be supplied with weapons, ammunition, spare parts and fuel, the more lives can be saved,” he concluded.
