Horror in France. The dismembered torso of a woman was found today inside a sack in Beit-Chamont, a park in the northeast of Paris, very popular for walks and picnics, according to judicial sources.

Police officers from the city’s parks and gardens service made the grisly discovery around noon, said the mayor of the French capital’s 19th arrondissement, Francois Daniot. The park has been closed to the public in order for it to be explored in its entirety.

According to a source close to the investigation, a woman’s pelvis was found in the sack that had been thrown into the bushes.

So far there is no information on the identity of the victim or about the time of her death. The case has been taken over by the judicial police of Paris.

A resident of the neighborhood, who was outside the park around 6 p.m., said she was told by her daughter not to go there. “I don’t think it’s the first time a body has been discovered in Beit-Shamon though, a dismembered body, that’s the absolute horror,” he commented.

The park will remain closed tomorrow Tuesday so that police can search it with the help of specially trained dogs, the mayor said.

Bit-Salmon Park, O “green lung” of eastern Paris, was created in 1867 by Napoleon III. Thanks to its pond, waterfalls and cave, it is ideal for walks and exercise, while many families frequent it on weekends.
