The problem occurs in the so-called “Full Self Driving” mode because of the dangers it can pose at intersections, even if the driver is careful
In recalling nearly 363,000 vehicles with the so-called feature “Full Self-DrivingĀ» recalls Elon Musk’s Tesla because of the dangers it can pose at intersections, even if the driver is careful and ready to take control of the car.
The recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that in “certain rare circumstances” the FSD mode could cause the car to violate traffic laws “before some drivers intervene.”
Tesla will try to fix the problem through an over-the-air software update, the announcement said.
The inquiry concerns Model S and Model X models manufactured from 2016 to 2023, Model 3 models manufactured from 2017 to 2023 and Model Y models manufactured from 2020 to 2023.
Tesla has allowed thousands of drivers to test new driver assistance systems through the FSD software but in its beta version, i.e. an early working version. Only those drivers who had a high score in their driving could gain access to this software.
However, this software does not make Tesla cars fully autonomous or safe to drive on the road without a human behind the wheel and ready to brake or swerve at any moment.
