A first batch of 635 Ukrainian soldiers has completed five weeks of training at a US base in Germany, the US Department of Defense announced on Friday.

The US government has agreed to deliver more than 100 Bradley armored vehicles (equipped with a 25mm gun and anti-tank missiles) to the Ukrainian armed forces, which are expected to launch a counterattack against the Russian invaders in the coming months.
A motorized infantry battalion and an artillery squadron began training a fortnight ago and two more battalions are due to begin theirs next week.
The United States, which has already trained Ukrainian soldiers in weapons systems it will deliver to Kiev, announced late last year the expansion of those training programs. Before the start of the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022, the training of Ukrainian soldiers took place in their homeland.
