Two explosions were heard in a western Ukrainian city as the country came under a fresh missile attack by Russian forces, local officials said, and some areas cut power as a precaution to avoid damage from possible grid strikes.

Two explosions were heard in the city of Khmelnytskyi, which is located 274 kilometers west of Kiev, the head of the Khmelnytskyi region said.

Hours after an airstrike alert was sounded across the country this morning, authorities in several regions of southern and eastern Ukraine warned of precautionary power cuts to limit grid damage from a strike.

Russia, which invaded neighboring Ukraine nearly a year ago, has been targeting its neighbor’s energy grid since last October.

Vitaly Kim, the head of the southern Mykolayiv district, posted a photo on the Telegram messaging app of what appeared to be missile debris in a field.

Kim noted that it was likely a Ukrainian air defense missile unit and added that at least one Russian missile was shot down.
