Last year, Capaldi spoke publicly about being diagnosed with Tourette syndrome, a condition that involves involuntary repetitive movements, also known as tics, such as jerking the head, shrugging the shoulders, or making strange sounds.
“Before the diagnosis I thought I was dying, I’m a bit hypochondriacal. I thought I had some kind of degenerative disease, but I’m fine. My shoulder twitches when I’m excited, happy, nervous or stressed. It’s something I live with. It’s not as bad as it seems.”
“I’m a very nervous person. A lot of people who meet me and don’t know me think I’m on drugs,” he said, jokingly explaining that this is why he has to share that he has Tourette’s.
He also revealed that he had botox injected into his shoulder to stop the twitching.
