Giant business in Turkey. More than 617,500 people were evacuated by air of the earthquake-hit provinces in southern Turkey since two strong earthquakes struck on February 6, the Turkish civil aviation authority said on Wednesday.
A total of 3,540 flights were carried out to evacuate the victims, according to the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, Anatoli news agency reports.
Also, 292 flights were carried out to transport humanitarian aid to the earthquake affected provinces.
The competent authority also coordinated 690 foreign aircraft who were transporting relief materials to the area. It said Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, SunExpress, Freebird Airlines, Cortex Aviation, Corendon Airlines, Tailwind Airlines, Air Anka, Mavi Gok Airlines, MNG Airlines, ULS Airlines and ACT Airlines were involved in the operations.
More by 45,000 people died in the magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes, which centered in Kahramanmaras and affected 10 other provinces – Hatay, Gaziantep, Antiyaman, Malatya, Adana, Diyarbakir, Kilis, Osmaniye, Sanliurfa and Elazig.
