French President Macron hopes for approval of pension reform in the Senate, relying on the votes of Republican senators
The government hopes that the sages of the Senate will appear more condescending, less vocal than the MPs, that they will consider all 20 articles of reform between them and the famous article 7 on the increase of the pension, to 64.
He hopes that the cacophony experienced by the French from the examination of the reform in the Parliament where, led by the MPs of the left coalition NUPES, four parties of the Left, after two weeks of clashes, left for the Senate without a vote, will be somewhat forgotten.
The French Right plays the role of regulator
It is the second day today that the reform is being considered by the Senators, the spirits there are calmer, the Right dominates which has always wanted to raise the retirement age, while the NUPES coalition, formed in last year’s parliamentary elections by the leader of the Disobedients Jean Luc Mélenchon, does not have a seat in the Senate.
Senate Republicans are therefore the new hope for Macron to get a vote on his reform. Meanwhile, together, all eight 8 unions are preparing the general strike next Tuesday, threatening permanent mobilizations.
