Schools in the wider region of Perugia, in central Italy, will remain closed tomorrow and the day after, for precautionary reasons.

The decision was taken following the series of earthquakes recorded today in the Umbria region.

The strongest tremors occurred at 16.05 pm local time (4.3 on the Richter scale), at 20.08 (4.6 on the Richter scale) and at 20.13 (3.9 on the Richter scale).

A while ago, the Italian civil protection service announced that there were no injuries or serious property damage.

Many residents, however, in the Umbria region, after these tremors went out into the street and have not yet returned to their homes.

The firefighters decided, always for precautionary reasons, to evacuate four buildings, in which a total of thirty people live. The University of Perugia will also remain closed tomorrow and the day after.

Finally, the country’s media emphasize that this region of central Italy is particularly seismic and that stronger earthquakes could occur.
