Chaos reigns at the BBC after Gary Lineker was axed from Match of the Day, as his co-presenters Ian Wright, Alan Shearer and Alex Scott decided not to appear on the show in solidarity with Lineker…

Alan Shearer, Ian Wright and Alex Scott have decided not to appear on Saturday night’s show as British media sources say Lineker “does not agree” with the decision of the heads of the network to leave. The Daily Mail is no pun intended, paraphrasing Lineker’s Match of the Day show to Mutiny of the Day (Mutiny of the Day)

Lineker will not present this weekend’s Match of the Day after the BBC ruled that his tweet comparing the UK Home Office’s immigration policy with the policies of Nazi Germany violates the rules of impartiality, but is strongly supported by his colleagues.

Ian Wright tweeted that he would not host the show while the ban was in place, expressing his “solidarity” with his co-host.

Alan Shearer followed up, tweeting this afternoon: “I have informed the BBC that I will not be appearing on MOTD tomorrow night.”

THE Alex Scott also tweeted indicating that he has no plans to host the show: “For your information: No. Not me” mentioned in the caption and GIF.

For his part, the Channel 5 News presenter Dan Walker announced that Gary Lineker told him “they told me [το BBC] that I must leave.”

Speaking to Channel 5 News, Walker said: “It’s one of those weird situations where I’m texting the man himself (Lineker) right now. And I asked Gary Lineker whether he was leaving or whether the BBC told him to leave, and I told him that if he answered me I would read that statement on air.”

“There’s a word in there that i can’t use, but he said ‘No, they told me I have to leave’. So Gary Lineker wants to continue presenting Match Of The Day, and he doesn’t apologize about what he said, but he said it was the BBC’s decision to force him not to present the show at the moment.’
