The sudden rise in cases with the Omicron mutation of Covid-19 worries the organizers of the Grammy Awards.
According to Page Six, the Recording Academy is looking for a new venue to host the 64th annual television broadcast of the awards, and there are rumors that the ceremony may be postponed.
“They are having a hard time finding space and watching the Hollywood Bowl because it is open,” a source told the site.
The ceremony was originally scheduled to be broadcast live from Crypto.com Arena (formerly Staples Center) in Los Angeles on January 31, but on Monday Billboard magazine reported that the ceremony would likely be postponed due to Covid 19.
Another music expert seems to have confirmed the information on Billboard, saying that in order for the ceremony to take place, another place will have to be found, something that will cause inconvenience.
“They have to block a place for a week or ten days to give time for rehearsals. At least that’s the requirement for Crypto.com Arena, so that complicates matters. “They find it difficult to exclude the new space for so long,” they said.
A third, more informed source said: “They intend to move it completely [την τελετή απονομής]. “They look everywhere, and watch what the other award organizers plan to do, but there is a very strong rumor that they will take her to the Hollywood Bowl and plan to cut the audience.”
This will be the second year that the biggest music night has to make adjustments due to the pandemic. In 2021, organizers were forced to postpone pre-Grammy ceremonies and events, such as the MusicCares gala and Clive Davis’s annual bash, which took place via Zoom.
