Two journalists were killed yesterday Thursday by a gang operating in a zone on the outskirts of the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince. The news was broadcast by a radio station for which one of the victims worked.
Vilgen Luisen and Amadi John Wesley were killed in a shootout, the’s employer, Radio Radiocoute FM, told AFP.
A third journalist, who accompanied them, was able to escape, according to the same source.
The killings were recorded while in Haiti in recent months the control of heavily armed gangs has spread in areas of the capital, Port-au-Prince.
In the area of ​​Labul 12, where the three journalists had gone for reporting yesterday, battles are raging between various gangs that want to secure its control.
