A mother reunited with the baby of since the DNA tests they proved it was really her daughter, almost two months after the disaster earthquake in the south Turkeyas announced by the Ministry of Family Affairs today.

The “miracle baby”, little Vetin, aged just 3.5 months, was pulled from the rubble of a building in Hatay province, five days after the February 6 earthquake. In fact, he was in very good condition and had no health problems.

Today, the ministry handed her over to her mother, Yasmin Begdas, in a hospital in Adana, 54 days after the earthquake.

“Reuniting a mother with her child is one of the most precious tasks in the world,” said Minister of Family and Social Affairs Deria Yannick.

Vetin was first treated in a hospital in Adana and then transferred by the presidential plane to Ankara. Genetic tests confirmed that Yasmin was her mother and the child returned to Adana and they were reunited at the hospital where the mother is being treated. The baby’s father and two brothers were killed in the earthquake.

More than 56,000 people died in the February 6 earthquake and subsequent aftershocks in Turkey and neighboring Syria.
