The invitation to be sent to around 2,000 officials for the coronation ceremony of King Charles and ‘Queen’ Camilla on May 6 at Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace has revealed.

The invitation comes with a new official photo portrait of the royal couple, but what the British press is mainly concerned with is that for the first time the Palace calls Camilla not “royal wife” but “queen”, as it says.

In this manner, the Palace anticipates what Camilla will be called after the coronation at the side of Charles.

Next Sunday the couple will celebrate 18 years of marriage, with Camilla having transformed in the consciousness of most Britons from the “third person” in Charles’ marriage to Diana to an important member of the royal family.

As it was also announced, eight children between the ages of nine and 13 will participate in the ceremony as honorary companions of the couple. These are relatives or children of friends of the king and queen. The name that stands out is clearly that of the future monarch, second in line, Prince George, the first-born child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate.

The invitations will be printed on recycled paper and decorated with brightly colored floral and wildlife designs by visual artist Andrew Jamieson. The inspiration came from the Green Man, a pagan figure in British folklore that symbolizes spring and rebirth.
