Iran foiled an overnight drone attack on a Defense Ministry building in the city of Isfahan, Tasnim news agency reported today, amid escalating tensions between the Islamic Republic and Israel.

In the past, Tehran has accused Israel of such attacks, including a drone attack on a military equipment factory near Isfahan in January. Israel has neither confirmed nor denied responsibility for the attacks.

“The Amir al-Momenin compound in Isfahan was the target of a failed attack by a small drone, which was prevented by defense systems,” according to Tasnim, which added that there was no damage from the attack.

The announcement of the attack came days after Israeli airstrikes in Syria against Iranian targets killed two members of the Revolutionary Guards, the elite body of Iran’s military, who were in Syria as military advisers.

In January, an industrial center belonging to the Iranian Ministry of Defense was the target of a drone attack, which Iran said was unsuccessful and was launched by “mercenaries of the Zionist regime”.
