Russian President Vladimir Putin has been in constant contact with his Kazakh counterpart Kasim-Yomart Tokayev over the crisis in Kazakhstan.

Putin discussed the situation in Kazakhstan in “several phone calls” he had with his Kazakh counterpart, Russian news agencies quoted the Kremlin on Friday.

Putin also spoke with leaders of other countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a military alliance, yesterday and today, Friday, the agencies quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov as saying.

Security forces reportedly regained control of the streets of Kazakhstan’s main city of Almaty today after days of violence, and the Russian-backed president said he had ordered his troops to fire in cold blood to quell the uprising across the country.

Firefighting resumed in Almaty at night, the Mir-24 television channel reported. According to the channel, eyewitnesses confirmed that clashes took place in the area of ​​Republic Square.
