Furious with his father, King Charles, Prince Harry wants royal editor Robert Jobson’s book, Our King, because the monarch refused to put wife Meghan Markle on the royal payroll Harry’s.

Charles said no to the request shortly after Harry informed him of his plans to marry the American actress.

According to the same book, William’s reaction to the announcement was the question: “Are you sure, Harold?”

And soon after, Charles, still heir to the throne, was quick to land him, saying he couldn’t add Meghan Markle to the royal family’s payroll, already strained by the addition of Camilla and William’s ever-growing family.

“And that angered Harry,” writes Jobson, according to the Daily Mail.

Charles was not answering the phone

Charles’ refusal caused one of the first fights between father and son. The then Prince of Wales stopped answering his son’s phone calls.

“When the Queen asked Charles why he refused, he told her it was not a bank,” writes Jobson.

According to the author, all the incidents that Prince Harry and Meghan publicly mention, such as the actress’ fight with Kate Middleton on the eve of her wedding, took on greater dimensions in their minds because of Charles’ denial.

At the same time, Prince Harry had the feeling that William was not positive about Meghan Markle, as he believed that their relationship was a “stormy romance”, which would last a while.

Meghan, meanwhile, has considered Kate “distant” since they first met.

But Harry and Meghan’s public complaints eventually frustrated Queen Elizabeth.

Of course, things got worse after their March 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The Queen found the Sussexes’ behavior “quite crazy”, says Jobson.

He later concluded that Harry’s love for his wife “clouded his judgement”.
